I have a Different outlook on that question Rory from my experience playing the game another player can attack you as many times as they like even if you have a peace shield up because that attack may come from a retaliation rivalry hit I am Aka Killlah in the game and I run the Gang SkullGang ☠

The two attacks which can override the Shield are Rival Hits and Hit List attacks.
