Upgrade Costs & Requirements
Unit upgrades follow a tiered system. Each unit (thug, merc, or boss) has multiple upgrade levels, and the cost increases with each level. Here’s what to expect:
Cash Requirement: Every upgrade costs cash, which scales with unit tier and upgrade level.
Product Requirement: Mid to high-tier upgrades require products in addition to cash.
Time Requirement: Each upgrade takes time to complete. Use diamonds to speed up if needed.
Level Unlocks: Some upgrades are locked behind Mansion or Workshop level requirements.
You must have trained at least one unit of a specific type before it becomes eligible for upgrade. For example, if you’ve never trained a Pitbull, you won’t see it in the Thug Workshop menu.
Make sure to balance your economy — always keep enough cash and products in reserve to fund ongoing upgrades without halting your hood’s growth.
Benefits of Upgrading
Upgrading your units gives you a distinct edge in every area of the game:
Better Defense: Upgraded thugs have more health and damage, making it harder for attackers to raid your hood.
Stronger Offense: Upgraded mercs and bosses deal more damage and survive longer, allowing you to take down tougher enemies and complete boss fights more efficiently.
Efficient Resource Use: Higher-tier units are more effective per product/cash spent — you get more value from every deployment.
PvP Advantage: In tournaments and leaderboards, even a slight stat boost can make or break a close battle.
In short, upgrading units isn’t just about numbers — it’s about scaling your power to match your enemies and maintaining your dominance in the game.
